Human Frailty

My online dictionary describes human frailty as this:

weaknessfallibility, flawimperfectiondefectfailingfaultshortcomingdeficiencyinadequacylimitation, weak point

ANTONYMS strength

Why is this a good thing (at times) in God's plan for your life? I sure could use your encouragement; I've been experiencing a lot of human frailty in this season of my life!

Blessings,

This is a good thing! Actually a blessing! As it is during these times that God shows us our humannes and can use us to relate to others in their time of need. I feel it is in my times of weakness that God is teaching me His most valuable lessons. To rely on Him and relate to others pain.

I have been suffering with a great deal of tiredness from the Epstein Barr virus for 10 months. I believe God used this time to get me to stop and listen more closely to him. I am at Type A that has always just pushed a little harder and longer to conquer any challenge. Well, not this time! I must rely on God totally. I've learned a great deal about humilty and trust in the Lord during this time. So, frailty can be a great thing.

In His epic and profound love for us, God doesn't rebuke our inadequacies and failings. He isn't aggravated or even surprised when we fall short...again. The fact is our weaknesses provide opportunities for God to show up and show off (2 Corinthians 12:9 - "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness")!

What's also incredible is that our frailties, vulnerabilities and lacks are as custom designed as our gifts, skills and strengths. Psalm 139:13-14 says He "knit [us] together in [our] mother's womb" and that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made." That includes everything-the whole package!

So just to recap, our weaknesses are: custom-designed by our Creator; opportunities to witness His power at work in us and through us; and used by God to keep our hearts soft and empathetic toward others. I'd say Paul had it right when he said, "therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that Christ's power may rest on me." (2 Corinth. 12:9). Amen!

Hi Katy xx when reading this, I was reminded of a word that I heard from Gary Kieswetter years ago... He quoted Joel 3:10 saying, "Let the weak say, I AM STRONG." Then he compared it to a flat car battery - when the battery is flat and the car won't start, one has to use jumper cables and connect the flat battery to another fully charged battery to get the car up and going again. This is what happens when our "batteries get flat". We have Christ, the great I AM, within us and can draw from His great strength. Like the song 'Lean on me' - I know it's a secular song, but what if Jesus sang it to us... "Lean on Me, when you're not strong.. I'll be your friend...I'll help you carry on.." Love, Ruth

In this season of my life I am reveling in my human frailty and in a seeming contradiction, finding a deeper peace and trust than ever because of it. I am in a place where my numerous circumstances are so insurmountable, challenging and totally beyond what I could even attempt to try to pull off, that I am forced to depend upon His strength in a new way. I have crawled off the hamster wheel of human effort and I can rejoice and join Him on this ride while He leads and carries! And He gets all the glory!
